Three enablers of scalability – content, capabilities, and coverage – guide our work on the Beyond NDC program.

During the first half of 2021, we expanded access to NDC offers from Singapore Airlines (SQ), one of our Beyond NDC partners, in additional markets across Europe and Asia. In addition, we activated the important servicing capabilities of Void, Refund and Exchange. Enlarging our market footprint and strengthening the foundational capability set will help agency customers broaden their reach and maximize access to leading content as travel recovers.

Now accessible to more markets

Activating new countries requires market-by-market analysis. For example, the treatment of accounting rules, currencies, and VAT taxes vary across geographies. Solving for one market’s attributes does not necessarily solve for all. Accommodating each market’s nuances is a pre-requisite for scalability. As a result, activating a new market for NDC content marks an important point of progress.
Our market coverage for NDC offers from SQ is accelerating this year:

From January we increased our profile in Asia and launched in Europe. Markets included: Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

From February 8, 2021: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Taiwan, and Turkey.

From March 1-4, 2021: Bangladesh, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were activated in waves in conjunction with the 21.2 release of our agency solution, Sabre Red 360.

From April 5, 2021: Spain came online.

From July 1, 2021: Greece, Cambodia, Poland, Israel, Finland, Luxembourg, Hungary, Czech Republic, Estonia, Slovakia and China will go live.

We look forward to sharing additional market expansion news throughout the year.

Enabling Void, Refund and Exchanges

The activation of new capabilities, including Cancel/Void Cancel/Refund and Exchanges complements our expanded market coverage. To adopt NDC broadly, agencies not only need to be able to shop and book NDC offers but also service orders across the end-to-end workflow. Deploying Cancel/Void, Cancel/Refund and Exchange for agencies signals meaningful progress to rounding out important servicing functionality

“Servicing is critical to agencies and preserves efficiency,” said Sabre NDC Product Director, Rolando Philps. “Activating Cancel/Void and Cancel/Refund is a material step forward in completing the foundational end-to-end workflow that customers want. The team and I appreciate Singapore’s collaborative approach and shared focus on developing solutions that scale.”
