Sabre challenges developers to reinvent travel at Hackathon:TTX, the biggest travel innovation game in Las Vegas

Coders will have first access to Sabre’s newest developer toolkit and APIs to create new capabilities for frictionless travel experiences, unified e-commerce and personalized offers

Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR), the leading technology provider to the global travel industry, is hosting a special edition of its world itinerant developer competition to set the stage in Las Vegas ahead of Sabre’s Travel Technology Exchange (TTX) innovation conference. The contest is open to developers worldwide to create innovative apps that will help the industry offer a frictionless travel experience, unified e-commerce and personalized offers for today’s travelers.

Developers will compete Saturday, June 24 to Sunday, June 25 at the Aria Casino & Resort in Las Vegas. The event will kick off on Saturday at noon, followed by twenty-four hours of intense programming, creative thinking and problem-solving for apps, widgets or other emerging technology that could change the way people travel. Sabre is inviting all developers from a variety of backgrounds to register their teams on the Hackathon:TTX website.

Building on Sabre’s platform, developers are given 24 hours to use different services and tools to create the big innovation that takes travel to the next level. Using Sabre’s newest developer toolkit, coders are also challenged to create widgets for one of the most powerful merchandising and booking platforms for travel – the new Sabre Red Workspace. The goal is to create something new and exciting for the platform. Sabre Dev Studio provides access to API keys, SDKs, Demo Gallery and sample coding.

The contest is open to anyone – from students to start-ups, even to those working for some of the travel industry’s biggest brands – with a clear goal: create frictionless experiences, unified e-commerce and personalized travel.

Apps and widgets should follow one of these three themes:

  • Frictionless Experience: How do we remove obstacles and make the traveler experience as easy as possible?
  • Unified Commerce: How do we ensure a comprehensive experience for the customer, regardless of where they start, continue, or finish the shopping process?
  • Personalized Experience: How do we tailor travel directly to the customer’s preferences? How do we offer the right product to the right customer at the right time?

The Sabre TTX innovation conference is a 3-day conference packed with keynotes, networking opportunities, new technology breakthroughs and showcases of the latest trends and insights in the travel industry. This year the conference includes a specific developer track, in addition to agency, corporate and travel suppliers sessions.

Participants will compete for a chance to win the grand prize of $5000 for the Best Creation, $1000 for Best use of Emerging Technology, and $500 for Best Idea for the New Sabre Red Workspace. The judging criteria includes Technical Quality, Design, Originality and Potential.

Entries will be judged by a panel of industry experts, including:
