SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Jan 17, 2006 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Russian aviation start-up Air Management Group (AMG) has
contracted with Sabre Airline Solutions to help operate its new
Moscow-based air taxi services under the “DEXTER” brand.
DEXTER is operating light aircraft configured with four or six
comfortable seats specially designed for frequent business travelers.
“The idea is to offer business travelers an uninterrupted,
efficient, safe and quick point-to-point transport service between
cities where direct air connection is congested, irregular or simply
does not exist at all,” said Evgeny Andrachnikov, chairman of the
board of AMG.
“We are also selling on the concept of flexibility, so our
operational and decision-support technology needed to be able to help
us with this.”
DEXTER is using the Sabre Rocade Airline Operations suite of
products in order to manage its growing fleet of 250 aircraft that
make more than 1500 departures a day in and around Russia. Sabre’s
suite of products provides a complete solution for efficient and
flexible fleet and crew planning, and operations control. The products
are scalable and can be used by small start-up airlines as well as
medium-sized businesses with up to 150 aircraft. Offering a standard
solution, they are designed to support any type of airline operations
including business, scheduled, low-cost, charter, cargo or any
combination thereof. The products are used by some 70 airlines, most
of which are based in Europe and Asia
Murray Smyth, Sabre Airline Solutions’ senior vice-president for
Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said there was growing interest
across Europe in the idea of small, comfortable air-taxi services
aimed exclusively at the business traveler.
“As airports become increasingly congested and scheduled business
routes grow more crowded, there’s a definite niche opening up,” he
said. “Sabre is perfectly placed to help. The scale and breadth of our
operational and decision-support products mean I can be talking to
British Airways in the morning and AMG in the afternoon.”
The commercial aviation sector in Russia is booming, and Sabre
Airline Solutions is the leading airline IT provider there. In March
this year Russian flag-carrier Aeroflot underwent a massive IT
upgrade, moving entirely to the SabreSonic set of reservations and
passenger management products.
