SOUTHLAKE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Dec. 13, 2005–Sabre Airline
Solutions has successfully implemented technology from Microsoft to
accelerate development and deployment for the next generation of the
Sabre Streamline Resource Management Suite.
Through in-depth architect design review sessions at the Microsoft
Technology Center in Austin, Texas, Sabre Airline Solutions and
Microsoft were able to prototype a new smart-client application. The
prototype combines the best of Microsoft’s newest technology and
design approaches using Visual Studio 2005 and the 2.0 .Net Framework
with the Streamline suite’s industry-leading resource management
solution, which is utilized by more than 40 airlines, ground handling
agents, airports and government agencies worldwide.
“By working together, Sabre Airline Solutions and Microsoft have
enabled immediate results, and we look forward to a continued
relationship in executing the long-term vision of the Streamline
suite,” said Pradeep Rathinam, Microsoft’s general manager of ISVs in
the United States. “Sabre Airline Solutions has capitalized on the
opportunity to gain early insight into the development and delivery of
solutions utilizing Visual Studio 2005 and the .Net Framework. We are
very excited about Sabre Airlines Solutions’ newly announced
commitment as its work is representative of the tremendous momentum in
the ISV community with the release of these new technologies.”
Between June and August, the development team for the Streamline
suite worked with Microsoft architects and infrastructure and
deployment specialists to develop an integrated, wireless, mobility
solution, Task Anywhere, that will communicate directly with the Sabre
Streamline StaffManager system. The StaffManager system provides
real-time support for resource management and automates task
allocation on the day of operation to airline and airport personnel.
The new solution has an intuitive, rich interface and will operate on
a hand-held device while working over wireless networks.
“Sabre Airline Solutions recognizes the importance of leveraging
innovative technology to maintain the position of the aviation
industry’s leading technology provider,” said Steve Clampett,
president of Airline Products and Services at Sabre Airline Solutions.
“The long history of Microsoft technology in use by airlines and at
airports around the world led us to engage with Microsoft to
strengthen our technology strategy and enable rapid evolution of the
Streamline suite.
“Through the relationship with Microsoft, we were able to
accelerate delivery of the hand-held wireless solution,” Clampett
continued. “This solution ensures rapid, accurate and well-organized
communication between field personnel and supervisors managing airport
resources that service the airline’s passengers. Reacting to changes
in the schedule must be supported by robust decision-support solutions
and rich, yet cost-effective, communication channels. This mobile
solution enables airport customer service and ramp staff to be
proactive in responding to day-of-operation changes in the flight
schedule and have valuable information at their fingertips.”
In addition to business solution applications, Sabre Airline
Solutions will work closely with Microsoft in 2006 to rapidly adopt
the latest 2.0 .Net Framework tools and capabilities. Through
subsequent product releases in 2006, Sabre Airline Solutions will
evolve the suite to leverage smart-client technology and implement
BizTalk Server 2006 for ease of system integration when implementing
the Streamline suite with customers’ existing third-party systems.
