JetBlue Enhances Customer Focus with New Technology from Sabre Airline Solutions; Technology Helps Reduce Fuel Consumption and Waiting Time on Taxiway

SOUTHLAKE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nov. 23, 2004–JetBlue Airways
announced it has teamed with Sabre Airline Solutions for technology to
help the airline more efficiently manage airport-based resources. The
technology, part of the Sabre Streamline Resource Management Suite,
will initially be implemented at John F. Kennedy International Airport
in New York City.

The new gate management technology will help JetBlue reduce
operational costs, improve on-time performance and better utilize gate
assets. In addition, the technology will help an airline assign more
feasible, efficient gate assignments to existing schedules, which
means JetBlue will be able to reduce waiting time on the taxiway,
lessening potential fuel burn and maintaining high on-time performance
and customer service.

“The Streamline suite represents the one tool in the marketplace
that will enable us to continue to provide quality customer service
while maintaining efficient use of our limited gate space at JFK,”
said Nigel Adams, vice president of customer service for JetBlue. “The
Streamline suite will augment our deep commitment to customer service.
By promoting on-time delivery and efficient use of our resources, the
technology will help us reach our goal of better service at a lower
fare.”

The Streamline suite includes a user-friendly interface that will
enable JetBlue to run multiple scenario solutions for daily operations
and recurrent schedules, the heart of the airline’s operations. Taking
into consideration “what if” events, such as temporary construction or
long-term additions, the combination of automation and human
intervention will make it possible for JetBlue to plan and manage its
gate resources for maximum efficiency and increased productivity at
its key operations at JFK.

Steve Clampett, president of Airline Products and Services at
Sabre Airline Solutions, noted the importance of gate management in
addressing costs in the current market for the low cost carrier
segment.”

“The selection by JetBlue continues the resurgence in interest for
gate resource management that we have seen at hub airport operations
for carriers looking to better utilize gate resources and reduce
associated airport operating costs,” Clampett said. “With fuel prices
staying consistently high, airlines are looking for ways to further
minimize fuel burn, and one way to do that is to improve gate
operations and decrease waiting times on the tarmac.”

The installation of Sabre Streamline GatePlan and Sabre Streamline
GateManager builds on the existing relationship between Sabre Airline
Solutions and JetBlue, which currently uses the Sabre Flight Control
Suite for its flight operations.

JetBlue’s use of the Streamline suite for its airport operations
adds to the growing number of low-cost carriers that utilize its
robust functionality. Frontier Airlines, WestJet, AirTran Airways and
ATA also utilize at least one system of the suite.
