Hainan Airlines Selects Sabre Airline Solutions Planning and Scheduling Systems to Support Future Growth; Carrier Joins Other China-based Airlines in Implementing the Sabre AirFlite Suite to Enhance Decision-Making Capabilities

SOUTHLAKE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Feb. 16, 2005–Hainan Airlines,
a leading carrier in mainland China, this month successfully launched
state-of-the-art planning and scheduling technology from Sabre Airline

The agreement included implementation of the four main systems
within the Sabre AirFlite suite — Schedule Manager, Profit Manager,
Fleet Manager and the SlotManager system — providing automation of
the flight scheduling and route evaluation processes.

The AirFlite suite, which can help increase operating profits by
up to 9 percent, combines core flight scheduling functions such as
scheduling, profitability forecasting and analysis, fleet assignment,
and slot management through a seamless integration with shared
interfaces and database information. This level of integration
improves system performance and accuracy and reduces development
efforts, resulting in a flexible, stable and efficient solution that
runs on multiple platforms.

The advanced technology will help Hainan Airlines reach its growth
objectives and remain a key player in its region.

“Hainan Airlines is a dynamic, growing airline, and we pride
ourselves on our ability to move quickly and take opportunities as
they arise,” said Yang Jianhong, chief marketing officer for Hainan
Airlines. “Given our future growth plans, we found we were at a point
where we needed to automate our decision-making processes, and the
AirFlite suite has addressed this need. We can now change our schedule
times, network and fleet assignments quickly and accurately using
these tools. We can also make better decisions about medium- and
long-term issues such as fleet mix and new markets to serve.”

Cameron Curtis, vice president of the Asia/Pacific region for
Sabre Airline Solutions, believes Hainan Airlines is building a
strong, lasting presence in the region.

“Hainan Airlines is certainly one to watch in China,” he said.
“The airline is active and aggressive in its drive for growth and
increased market share. We are looking forward to working with Hainan
Airlines and are sure that our market-leading planning and scheduling
tools will significantly assist in network planning and scheduling
processes for the carrier.”

Hainan Airlines joins the three major airlines in mainland China
— Air China, China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines —
that utilize Sabre Airline Solutions’ planning and scheduling system.
