Greater Bay Airlines joins Sabre’s extensive Global Distribution System to support international expansion plans

Hong Kong-based Greater Bay Airlines is the latest entrant to Sabre’s global travel marketplace, which connects suppliers and buyers of travel services worldwide

SINGAPORE and HONG KONG, – July 20, 2023 – Sabre Corporation (NASDAQ: SABR), a leading software and technology provider that powers the global travel industry, today announced a new distribution agreement with Hong Kong’s newest airline Greater Bay Airlines. With the integration of Sabre’s Global Distribution System (GDS), Greater Bay Airlines will have access to Sabre’s comprehensive network of travel agents, online travel agencies, and corporations, allowing the airline to reach a wider audience and maximize distribution reach.

The new deal further strengthens Sabre’s presence in the Hong Kong travel market while enabling Greater Bay Airlines to easily and effectively distribute its flights and services across the world. Meanwhile, Sabre-connected travel agents globally will gain access to additional airline content to create optimum offers and experiences for their leisure and business travelers.

“Having launched our scheduled services in July 2022, we’re now focusing on expanding our regional network from Hong Kong to destinations such as Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Taipei, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, while providing our customers with best-in-class travel experiences,” said Gloria Slethaug, General Manager, Marketing and Sales, Greater Bay Airlines. “So, it was vital to choose the right technology partner to enable us to enhance our distribution capabilities to travel agents, and their travellers, across the world, as we press ahead with our future expansion plans.”

As Hong Kong strives to attract growing numbers of international and business visitors, Greater Bay Airlines is aiming to play an increasing role in Hong Kong’s tourism growth. The carrier flew its inaugural flight to Bangkok last summer, and has recently added a sixth destination to its network with the launch of regular Hong Kong to Ho Chi Minh City flights. With plans to expand its fleet, Greater Bay Airlines is expected to add further international services in the coming years.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Greater Bay Airlines to our growing network of airline customers,” said Rakesh Narayanan, Vice President, Regional General Manager, Asia Pacific, Travel Solutions, Airline Sales, Sabre Corporation. “As they concentrate on expanding business operations, it’s essential that the carrier has access to a robust distribution platform to effectively reach global travellers. We now look forward to seeing more Greater Bay Airlines planes take to the skies, supported by Sabre technology.”
