Garuda Indonesia signs multi-year technology agreement with Sabre

Full content agreement positions Garuda for global extension and growth

JAKARTA, Indonesia, 12 Dec. 2013 –Global technology company Sabre announced today it has signed a  new, multi-year technology agreement with Garuda Indonesia to market its products and services in the Sabre global distribution system. Under this wide-ranging agreement, Sabre and the airline plan to work together to make Garuda’s comprehensive range of content in fares, schedules and inventory, available in the Sabre travel marketplace. Sabre’s travel marketplace connects buyers and sellers of all kind of travel. The airline will implement Sabre’s highest level of connectivity, Group Management Tool (GMT) and Claim-it to increase efficiencies in reservation process and maximise revenue opportunities. GMT and Claim-it are important tools benefiting both travel agencies and travel suppliers, with GMT dramatically improving the group reservations process and Claim-it enabling airlines and agencies to more seamlessly support travelers, regardless of where the reservation originated. “With this agreement in place, we fully expect Garuda’s distribution and reach to extend beyond its current perimeters, resulting in immediate revenue benefits for the airline. Garuda will also be able to connect better with our customers and provide them a better and richer shopping experience,” said Erik Meijer, Garuda Indonesia’s executive vice president,  Marketing and Sales. Said Hans Belle, vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific, Sabre Travel Network, “Indonesia is the world’s fourth most populous nation with 230 million people, and is the biggest aviation market in the ASEAN group of nations. As its national carrier, Garuda is poised for huge growth. Sabre’s travel marketplace and innovative shopping technology will ensure Garuda stays ahead of the game and maximizes its growth potential.”
