Avianca signs distribution agreement with Sabre Travel Network to strengthen ticket sales

SOUTHLAKE, Texas, Jan. 21, 2010    Avianca has signed a multi-year, full-content agreement with Sabre Travel Network to offer its fares and inventory to travelers, agencies and corporations worldwide.

“Avianca believes in the value of the GDS channel.  This channel complements our direct selling efforts and allows us to reach a much larger group of travelers.” said Javier Gaez, commercial vice president of Avianca. “It just makes sense to have our fares easily accessible to our customers wherever they prefer to shop for travel.”

Avianca is committed to providing full content to Sabre Connected travel agencies and corporations.  The Sabre GDS is a premier distribution tool for airlines selling travel in Latin America.  Working with Sabre will contribute to optimizing our sales and enhance access to the corporate market, a crucial customer segment given the higher yields from corporate travelers.

“More travel agencies and corporations partner with Sabre than any other GDS because we deliver the most valued content in the most efficient, cost-effective way,” said Jay Jones, Sabre Travel Network’s senior vice president for the Americas.  “As a result of our agency partnerships, Sabre has a strong presence and large market share throughout Latin America which will give Avianca the best access to all market segments, especially the corporate market.”
