Austrian Airlines Selects Sabre Airline Solutions Next-Generation Crew Management Solution; Sabre Rocade Suite Enables Austrian Flag Carrier to Efficiently Plan and Track Crew Scheduling for More Than 3,000 Crew Members and 50 Aircraft

SOUTHLAKE, Texas–(BUSINESS WIRE)–June 28, 2006–Sabre Airline
Solutions, the leading provider of software and services to the
airline industry from planning to execution, and Austrian Airlines,
the flag carrier of Austria, today announced the airline’s selection
of Sabre Rocade Crew Management System, a next-generation crew
management solution. Austrian Airlines flight operations will use the
Crew Management System to plan and track crew scheduling throughout
its entire operations, including 50 aircraft and more than 3,000 crew
members. Sabre Airline Solutions will also provide professional
services and ongoing support for Austrian Airlines during the
implementation and for a period of at least five years.

“The Rocade suite offers an optimal mix of rich functionality, yet
is easily accessible and highly advanced in terms of automation and
optimization,” said Markus Christl, project manager, Austrian
Airlines. “At the same time, the Rocade suite is very robust and
provides a truly user-friendly graphical interface superior to any
other alternative we evaluated. With the Crew Web Portal, we will be
able to communicate more efficiently and allocate our resources more
accurately according to individual crew preferences.

“The Rocade suite’s model for implementation and provision of
assistance brings safety and predictability to the project. Its large
and active customer community confirms that implementation projects
constantly meet the expectations,” concluded Christl.

The Crew Management System uses a highly automated, single
database workflow with integrated modules for cost-effective, fair and
equitable crew planning methods. Integrated functionality allows for
complete crew management including pairing optimization, vacation
management, automatic roster construction and Web-based crew check-in.
This allows users to easily view and manage crew management
information in order to better manage the ever-changing crew
operations environment. Additionally, all modules are integrated and
coordinated with L2K, the Rocade suite’s unique technology for
legality control that enables optimal flexibility for user-definable
rules management.

“Flag carrier airlines such as Austrian Airlines are turning
toward building solutions on integrated standard systems to achieve a
balance between advanced functionality and ease of use,” said Urban
Deljerud, managing director of Sabre Rocade AB, Sabre Airline
Solutions. “With the built-in flexibility and the implementation
methodology developed by the Rocade suite, we can develop a crew
management solution to fit any airline’s unique characteristics and
needs.”

About Austrian Airlines

Austrian Airlines is the mainline of the Austrian Airlines Group
and the homecarrier in Austria. The current schedule network of the
Austrian Airlines Group comprises 130 destinations in 66 countries on
all five continents. The world spanning network of Star Alliance — in
which the Austrian Airlines is a member since 2000 — offers its
passengers more than 800 destinations.

Austrian Airlines has been numerously awarded for exceptional
service and quality during the last years. In order to meet the
demands of the passengers the carriers constantly improve their
product and services and offer a dense network of short-haul
connections as well as many long-haul destinations, from business
destinations to leisure spots.

Apart from the traditionally strong presence in Western Europe,
the Austrian Airlines Group has continuously expanded its network in
Central and Eastern Europe due to the geographical position and the
historical ties. Today the Group offers 44 destinations in this
economic area — more than any other Western European carrier.

The Austrian Airlines Group specializes in bi-directional
West-East -Transfer, and traffic from and to Austria. In line with its
“Focus East”- niche strategy, the core markets of the Austrian
Airlines Group are those of European traffic into Central and Eastern
Europe, connections to the Middle East and flights to the Far East.
This strategy is supported by the Star Alliance membership and the
efficient hub, the Vienna International Airport (a 25 minutes minimum
connecting time between Austrian Airlines Group flights is unique in
Europe).

Amongst the 100 aircraft of the Austrian Airlines Group the most
modern long-haul jets are found: Airbus A340, A330 and Boeing 777, 767
offer highest standards of safety, comfort and luxury. With an average
age of only seven years the fleet is one of the youngest in the world.

The fresh spirit, the special brand values and the typical image
makes the Austrian Airlines Group uniquely Austrian.
