Alitalia Signs Fares Management Deal With Sabre Airline Solutions

Fifth Largest European Carrier Selects Industry-Leading Tool to Help Maximize
                    Revenues and Maintain Competitive Edge

SOUTHLAKE, Texas, March 2 /PRNewswire/ — A third member of the SkyTeam alliance, Alitalia Linee Aeree Italiane SPA, has signed a deal with Sabre Airline Solutions, for its state-of-the-art AirPrice system.

Used by seven of the world’s top 12 airlines, the new system will help Alitalia maximize its revenues through the tactical and strategic analysis and management of fares.

The AirPrice system will help pricing analysts examine relative market data, including competitors’ changes, to make rapid pricing decisions and maximize Alitalia’s revenues by up to one percent. It complements the six other Sabre Airline Solutions revenue management and planning tools that Alitalia already has in place, enabling tight integration among the airline’s operational systems.

Commenting on the new installation, Gianni Matassa, director Pricing, RM Systems and Operations, Alitalia said: “We needed to get this capability in place quickly. Our previous experience with Sabre Airline Solutions proved that they had the experience and the right technology to get this done. In addition, their end-to-end offering of technology for airline operations ensures that we can have a truly integrated solution — boosting operational productivity and our bottom line.”

Vinay Dube, vice president, Sabre Airline Solutions for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, said: “Following our consulting work with Alitalia, it became clear the carrier needed a new decision-support fares management system. Our AirPrice tool fit the bill perfectly, as it is so easily integrated into the existing operations IT systems Alitalia has in place.

“With over 80 contracts signed in the EMEA region in 2003, this deal further highlights our unparalleled depth of knowledge and experience in providing airlines in the region with industry-leading IT solutions,” Dube concluded.
