Sabre Polska, AirHelp and Amazon’s Development Center in Poland organized the “Travel to the Cloud” Hackathon for Krakow’s and Gdansk’s developers in two cities at the same time. The goal was to end the event with a solution to help people with disabilities travel.

Over the course of 24 hours, more than 100 developers worked in teams to find the best solution for making travel as seamless as possible. The Sabre Polska team – including Przemyslaw Brzezinski, Aleksander Krzeszowski and Grzegorz Wojciechowski – took home the win.

Their solution was an Android application that helps those unable to see to use public transportation in Kraków. SayMyWay detects a user’s geo position and looks for the nearest tram stop. Someone who is sight-impaired can either use a voice interface or the large buttons placed in the corners of the application to get information on stop schedules and arrivals or to subscribe to tram notifications. Currently, the application is available in Kraków but the next step is to expand into other cities.
