Once more Sabre supported one of the most interesting educational event – Greenlight for Girls. It’s aim is to fights stereotypes and increase the number of women working in area of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). On September 22nd, Sabre Poland took part in an all-day event dedicated to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) that was held at the AGH in Cracow. The purpose of the event was to inspire young women between the age of 11 and 15 to take their studies and career planning to these areas. During the event, 150 girls from local schools participated in workshops and practical activities put on by volunteers and experts. What is the best use of programming? Robots of course! During our workshops girls could learn the capabilities of Dash and Dot robots and get familiar with programming concepts – block diagrams and basic loops. The task was not easy, so the girls had to work together and develop a strategy for solving the problem. According to the survey girls really appreciated the event – they rate it 9,3 points (out of 10). And what is more important, nearly all of girls says that they are more interested in STEM areas after participating in the event. Greenlight for Girls is an international organization that, since its inception in 2010, has introduced more than ten thousand young women around the world to the world of science, involving over 1300 volunteers and organizing more than 60 events in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas.
