Vasco Da Gama, Marco Polo, and Christopher Columbus – what do these names remind you of? They were all great explorers with numerous adventurous travels and discoveries to their credit. Have you ever thought about what might have driven them to take a journey of hardship, adventure, fear, and physical toil?
As Edmund Burke famously quoted – “The first and simplest emotion which we discover in the human mind, is curiosity”. And haven’t we seen curiosity driving several inventions?!
I believe that travel is a natural extension of curiosity, and it brings up a range of emotions and desires in us – like the yearning for adventure, the intrigue to know more, the zeal for meeting and interacting with new people, the passion to experiment and try out local cuisines, and not to forget, the rush that one gets in picking up curios and souvenirs from different parts of the world.
