This April, Bangalore — India’s Silicon Valley — is the hot spot for developers from across country, as Asia’s largest developer gathering kicks off. The Great Indian Developer Summit features 200 sessions, 114 speakers from around the world, and 30 exhibitors across 5 thoroughly technical days. And, of course, lots of opportunity to network! In its ninth edition, the GIDS  is scheduled to take place from April 26 to 29 at the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. There will also be a mini conference on April 30 at the Hyatt Regency in Pune. Spread over four days in Bangalore, the summit curates eight broad tracks such as Cloud, Web and Mobile, Dot Net, Java, Data/Analytics, and Dynamic Languages. Each track features cutting edge content, offering many great opportunities to learn across different elements of the software industry.

At the GIDS.Java day on April 28, Shail Maniar, Vice President and Managing Director, will present a keynote on the “top skills for today’s effective Java developer.” Shail believes that well-roundness is one of the things that make software engineers great. In his talk, he will explain what being a well-rounded means for a Java engineer, and how this culture is being nurtured by the teams at Sabre. He will also share useful resources that help developers to become great Java engineers. Shail is looking forward to the level of talent attending the event, saying:
“2016 is the first time Sabre is partnering with the Global India Developer Summit as a platinum sponsor. We are looking forward to sharing our technology story in Java and Data Analytics with the Indian engineering community. We are excited about meeting some of the best developers at the GIDS 2016 conference.”
On Friday April 29th, the GIDS.Analytics day makes a deep dive alongside our analytics guru Gautam Pradhan, who is the Manager of Operations Research. Pradhan will share his knowledge on segmentation, discussing pointers and pitfalls when segmenting an airline’s customer base. Sabre continuously invests in helping airlines make use of Big Data to improve decision making processes. Given the scale and scope of data, the successful segmentation of this data is vital for success. Gautam will share insights on one of the major opportunities — discovering patterns in customer behavior. By deploying predictive analytics technology, airlines are able to more effectively sell to customers using targeted, data-rich offers, as well as make operational tweaks for improved profitability.
