Right after college, when you step into the corporate world, the expectations you have from your first day at work are quite high. It was the same for me.  It felt like my life would suddenly transition from a funny episode of F.R.I.E.N.D.S to a grim episode of SUITS and frankly, it was making me frantic. So, the moment Sabre’s VP – Jaya Jayakumar, entered the stage on a superbike and a leather jacket, I was sure that I was at the right place! The energy that was built in that conference room bound all of us under one force – Ambition. All of us were here for a purpose. His words reminded us of that and motivated us towards becoming the best versions of ourselves through our life at Sabre. From there on, each day of the Boot Camp, something new was in store of us. The most iconic of it all was when the leaders presented us with Boxing Gloves as a symbol of power, courage and passion. They motivated us to break through the norms and monotony of society and fight each problem with utmost strength. The uniqueness of the idea behind this goodie blew my mind. The Intern Boot Camp perfectly amalgamated work and play. There were informative sessions that elaborately introduced us to the technologies Sabre works with followed by hands-on sessions to apply ourselves. Understanding the massive scale on which Sabre operates made me count my blessings to be in that conference room. The thing that made all my friends in other companies extremely jealous – was the work out session. The Sabre team had scheduled daily work out sessions for us from Zumba to HIIT (High-intensity interval training) and other various forms of exercise. It goes to prove how seriously Sabre takes its employee’s health and fitness. It rejuvenated and activated all of us physically and mentally. There were dinners planned for us with the inspiring leaders of Sabre that were a mirror to the remarkable work culture in this corporation. They stimulated us to unlearn the old and relearn the new thereby ensuring continuous growth of character and personality. To end the Boot Camp with a BANG, a HACKATHON was organized for us. We spent forty continuous hours brainstorming and closely working with each other and our mentors to present something worthwhile. It was my first Hackathon experience and I wouldn’t have traded it for any other. The Sabre Team stocked us to the roof with midnight snacks and engaged us in relaxing singing and dancing sessions to keep us going! On the last day of the hackathon, listening to the brilliant presentations of my fellow interns, I was so wonderstruck by the magnitude of work that can be achieved in just 40 hours if you are in the right environment. As if Sabre hadn’t already pampered us enough, the last evening we had a ball with the Sabre Team! Everyone let their hair down breaking the stereotype that you can’t party with your seniors and colleagues. It’s a known truism that the success of a company, depends on the good of its people and at Sabre, it’s the best.  With its solicitous attitude, the Sabre Team made the tough transition from college to work, a mere breeze for us. The ten days of Sabre Intern Boot Camp were truly enriching and unforgettable for me. Sabre is indeed a corporation that thrives on co-operation.
