According to Travelocity’s newly released Memorial Day 2014 data, the cost of travel is up 4.2% this year, but savvy travelers can still find good deals. Deal-hunters can look to Travelocity’s Price to Beat as a gauge for finding great Memorial Day Deals. The Price to Beat for domestic travel is $367 for round-trip airfare, up 4.2% over 2013.  For international travelers, the Price to Beat is $939 for a round-trip flight, up only 1.3% year-over-year.

What are the Cheapest Days to Fly

Based on Travelocity’s Cheapest Days to Travel Matrix, budget-conscious travelers should opt to depart on Wednesday, May 21 and return on Sunday, May 25 for an average round-trip ticket price of $338. In contrast, the most expensive days to fly this Memorial Day are a Sunday, May 18 departure and a return flight on either Memorial Day (Monday, May 26) or Wednesday, May 28, with round trip prices of $589 and $592 respectively.
