The internship is going to be over soon; on one hand, I am excited about returning back to studying new courses in fall but on the other hand I will miss the warm culture and hospitality of Sabre employees. I am an intern within Airline Solutions (AS) Program Management group and I get to work with highly talented people who manage projects within AS and implement these projects to meet customer expectations.
In my role as a Project Manager Intern, I am managing a project for an important airline client to help them maintain alliance status. My main responsibility is to track progress and to ensure that deliverables to the customer are met within deadlines and budget. I have been getting help from several key executives within different groups such as Account Management, Development, Customer Sales and most importantly my manager. My experience in managing this project so far has been a great learning opportunity and I have realized a lot of business concepts not taught in my MBA courses or books. I hope that the documents I have created for this project will be of value in future and would help for future ongoing project deliverables for this airline client.
Apart from this I am also working on creating some automated forums, status collection reports/dashboards, stakeholders’ presentations and process documents for the Program Management team within e-Commerce development.
During my spare time, I am learning some exciting stuff like developing sites in SharePoint! I absolutely love the open and helpful work culture at Sabre. In my experience so far, people from several teams have been willing to help out an intern like myself. I am thankful that with this help I can add some new skills to my resume. As the internship is going to end soon, I, along with my business case competition team members, am getting ready to present our marketing case to the executives of Sabre. Although I am a little anxious about it right now, I am sure there will be a happy ending to it!
Each day of my internship has taught me something new and Sabre’s intern-friendly culture has provided me the opportunity to network with individuals in different areas spanning a large knowledge set. The intern events and the exec forums planned by Sabre’s Human Resources department is the icing on the cake for the intern program. I would like to thank all the Sabre employees for making my internship a pleasant experience and I hope that the work I accomplished as an intern will be beneficial to Sabre in the future!
