I am a summer intern on the Portfolio Marketing team within Sabre Airline Solutions. As a part of the Marketing and Solutions Management (MSM) organization, we are responsible for articulating a consistent brand message throughout all levels and departments of Sabre Airline Solutions.
My three main responsibilities as an intern this summer include:
- Author an article in Ascend, our industry-leading quarterly airline publication – Through collaboration with various key stakeholders, I am writing an article about the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) market. I am thrilled to have been granted this task, not only because Ascend is a first-class thought leader in the airline space, but because the EFB is one of the hottest new ideas permeating the airline industry today and in the years to come. Look for it in the October issue!
- Create vital documents for use in sales – This project was a late addition to my plate, but I am loving every part of it that I can influence. The MSM organization is helping to spearhead a massive overhaul of our sales collateral. I will be working in conjunction with a few Sabre AirCentre Enterprise Operations employees for a solution that I have grown quite fond of – EFB.
- Compete (WIN!) the Intern Case Competition – This is definitely one of the BEST PARTS about being an intern at Sabre for the summer! The opportunity to work on a real business problem, not only for our organization but for the travel industry as a whole, is an empowering experience. My team is researching how Generation Y navigates through the trip shopping process of travel. Trip shopping represents the very first stage in the lengthy travel process, and includes dreaming, learning, and basic itinerary planning. Our findings and recommendations could help influence how travel agents and booking sites (i.e. Travelocity) strategically market their offerings to Gen Y customer
I can’t wait to see how all of my projects unfold during the last half of my internship! Presenting my intern projects and case competition recommendations in the presence of Sabre Airline Solutions executives is slightly intimidating, but it is a challenge that I desire. I amaze myself every single day with the amount of ways I see myself maturing and growing into the type of professional woman I’ve always admired.
I am enjoying every day that I spend here as a part of Sabre Holdings. So many unique opportunities have come my way, such as a behind-the-scenes tour of Dallas/Ft. Worth International Airport, intern-only executive forums, and participating in a Give Time Together event at the North Texas Food Bank (see picture above).
As an intern, I want to give a big thank you to everyone for making the culture here so intern-friendly! You have no idea how special you make us feel day in and day out. It is a pleasure to come to work every morning and know that I am respected by my superiors, and ultimately have the ability to meaningfully contribute to the future success of Sabre Airline Solutions. Although my intern experience is halfway over, I know that the best parts are yet to come!
