John Samuel is the Senior Vice President of Design for Sabre. In this role, John is currently responsible for product development, user experience and design for the broad suite of solutions and applications used by Sabre’s travel industry customers. Additionally, John leads Sabre Labs, a team responsible for the incubation and development of cutting-edge business concepts centered on the future of travel.
Prior to joining Sabre in 2005, John spent two years at Orbitz as Executive Vice President, where he was responsible for all aspects of marketing and leisure travel offerings for the travel website.
John also spent 16 years with American Airlines, where he served in a number of executive positions including Vice President of Customer Technology. In this role, he had overall responsibility for the airline’s website, led the development and operation of all of American’s customer-facing technology, and directed the expansion of self-service airport kiosks and the roll-out of voice recognition for customer service. John also held management roles within the revenue management team.
Since 2007, John has served on the Board of Directors for TECH Ft. Worth, a non-profit public-private partnership organization that helps entrepreneurs bring to market innovative technologies that positively affect the environment, empower the community and improve healthcare. He also serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council of Abilene Christian University.
He lived in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and is married with three children.
John holds an MBA in marketing and finance from University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Management Information Systems from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas.
